5 Ways We Keep It Real at Techvalens: Our Guide to Diversity and Inclusion

At Techvalens, we believe that diversity and inclusion are not just buzzwords – they are essential values that help us create a stronger, more innovative company.

1. Emphasizing Cultural Awareness

We are strong believers that understanding and respecting different cultures is key to creating a welcoming environment for everyone. So one of the first things we did was create a training program that emphasizes cultural awareness.

Our training program teaches employees about different cultures, and backgrounds, and emphasizes the importance of embracing diversity. Our key motive is to make our employees feel comfortable being themselves, no matter where they come from.

2. Hiring for Diversity

We believe that a diverse workplace starts with hiring. That’s why we strive to create a diverse applicant pool for every open position. We also actively recruit candidates from underrepresented groups, including women, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. 

3. Celebrating Diversity

Not only do we create awareness but we also celebrate diversity in many different ways. We recognize and celebrate cultural events and holidays from around the world, such as Diwali, Chinese New Year, and Pride Month.
We believe that celebrating these events helps to build a sense of community and inclusivity among our employees. We also have a diversity and inclusion committee that meets regularly to discuss ways to further promote diversity within our company.

4. Foster Inclusion:

Inclusion is more than just having diverse team members. We strive to create a workplace where everyone feels welcome, valued, and respected. We have an open-door policy, where team members can share their thoughts, ideas, and concerns with the leadership team.

We also have employee resource groups, where team members can connect and share experiences based on shared backgrounds, identities, or interests.

5. Address Unconscious Bias & Open Communication: 

We want everyone to feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and ideas, no matter how different they may be from our own. We hold regular team-building events and encourage employees to get to know each other on a personal level.

We are aware that everyone has biases, whether conscious or unconscious. We provide training to all team members to identify and address unconscious bias. We also ensure that our hiring process is free from bias by having multiple team members evaluate candidates and using objective criteria.
